For August 2010, Bainbridge Business Women are proud to showcase Amy Gaskill and Treeroot Espresso and Edibles.
After over 17 years as a Human Resources professional in large and small companies in the northwest and California, Amy Gaskill decided to put her business and customer service skills to work where she could really make a difference – in a coffee shop. Beginning with a part-time position at a small but thriving coffee shack near Seattle’s Lake Union, Amy studied the coffee business and learned about espresso from the ground up. (Pun intended.) Two things she realized in this career change: first, coffee is not a simple business, but it is a lot of fun; second, after all those years of having to document everything (resulting in having to actually remember very little), putting names, faces and favorite drinks together is a great way to keep your mind in shape!
When Amy moved to Bainbridge Island in 2008, it was to be closer to “home” – she grew up in South Kitsap and wanted to get back to the close-knit community and rural lifestyle without entirely leaving the city behind. Of course, she immediately began looking for a way to make coffee work for her in her new home. The opportunity presented itself when she learned that Lucy the truck was for sale by a family right here on the island – mobile espresso was exactly what she was looking for, and serendipity handed her the perfect situation. Treeroot Espresso and Edibles was reborn on June 30, and Amy couldn’t be happier.
At Treeroot Espresso and Edibles, you’ll find people who are serious about providing a truly unique espresso experience. Lucy the truck comes to you with organic Fog Woman Espresso roasted on Bainbridge Island and offers one-stop-shopping for some of the best treats from local businesses.
